Common questions
During the beta, install Apple's free TestFlight app, then open your invite link and tap Install. Do the first launch on Wi-Fi — it downloads a language pack once (a few minutes), then works offline.
The first time, EverHeard downloads a speech model (a one-time download) — let it finish on Wi-Fi, then tap Tap to talk and speak. If it still doesn't caption, fully close and reopen the app.
Yes — that's how EverHeard hears speech and sounds. Tap Allow when asked. Your audio never leaves your device.
EverHeard runs advanced speech AI entirely on your device, so it works best on a 2020-or-newer iPhone or iPad. On older devices, live captions may lag; the app will show a notice if your device is below the recommended line.
Completely. All speech and sound processing happens on your device. There's no account and no server that receives your audio or captions — it even works offline. See our Privacy Policy.
Voice color-coding is experimental and works best with clear, close-up audio. You can turn it off any time in Settings → "Color-code voices." Captions and sound alerts don't depend on it.
